Senior Workshop Artisan
    (Salary level 6)
Pretoria National Botanical Garden

Appointment requires a Technical Qualification and a Trade test certificate, supplemented by at least 2 years relevant working experience.

The successful candidate will be tasked to:

 

  • Perform complex tasks such as welding, cutting, brazing and soldering, lathe turning of parts, carpentry work, spray-painting, roofing, fencing, and basic electrical work.
  • Assist with the development of maintenance plans and programs.
  • Ensure that maintenance for all the vehicles, machinery, equipment and tools of the garden are performed.
  • Control the development and maintenance of the irrigation system.
  • Monitor the quality of service delivery and facilities.
  • Supervise the section team, conduct performance appraisals, mentor, coach, train and discipline staff.
  • Schedule and approve leave applications, and monitor staff attendance
  • Apply Health and Safety Principles.

In addition to the aforementioned requirements, you should demonstrate the ability to maintain sound interpersonal relations and have an excellent spoken and written command of English as well as a passion for working with a diversity of people. Knowledge of MS Office is essential, and applicants must be in possession of a valid Code B drivers license with at least one year’s practical driving experience.

SANBI offers a salary of R121 290.00 per annum and additional fringe benefits, which include attractive medical and pension schemes.
